Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-18
These terms govern your use of FrictionScope at https://frictionscope.dev. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. Definitions
- Service: the FrictionScope web app at frictionscope.dev and the hosted MCP server.
- You: the person or organization using the Service.
- Site: a website you connect to the Service by supplying a Microsoft Clarity API token.
- Snapshot: the daily record of aggregate page metrics we retrieve and store for a connected Site.
2. What the Service does
FrictionScope retrieves aggregate friction metrics from your own Microsoft Clarity projects once per day, stores them so you have history, classifies each page into a problem archetype, and makes the result available in the web app and through read-only MCP tools in your editor.
FrictionScope is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. Your use of Microsoft Clarity is governed by Microsoft's own terms, not these.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Google. You are responsible for the security of the Google account you use.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- One human per account. Do not share credentials.
4. Your data and your tokens
- You own your data. The Clarity tokens you supply and the snapshots we build from them are yours.
- You warrant that you are authorized to connect each Site and to supply its Clarity API token. Do not connect a project you do not administer.
- You can revoke our access at any time from inside your own Clarity project. That immediately stops future snapshots.
- We access your Clarity data only to provide the Service. We do not sell it, mine it for other customers, or use it to train models.
5. Price
The Service is currently provided free of charge while it is in early development.
We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email before any charge applies to an existing account, and you will never be charged without explicitly agreeing to a plan first.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Connect Sites you do not own or administer
- Attempt to access another user's account, data, or snapshots
- Probe, scan, or attack the Service or its infrastructure
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without written permission
- Use automated means to extract data from the Service beyond the provided MCP tools and interface
- Use the Service to violate any law, or Microsoft's terms for Clarity
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules.
7. Service availability and limits
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uptime, and we do not offer a service level agreement.
You should specifically understand two limits inherited from Microsoft Clarity's export API:
- The API exposes only the previous one to three days. If a daily snapshot fails to run and is not recovered within that window, that day's data cannot be retrieved and the gap is permanent. We take reasonable care that snapshots run, but we do not guarantee an unbroken history.
- The API caps responses at 1000 rows per request with no pagination. A Site with more than 1000 pages may not be fully covered by a single daily snapshot.
Neither limit is under our control.
8. Intellectual property
- We own the Service: the application, its code, design, classification model, and documentation.
- You own your data, your Sites, and your Clarity account.
- We may use aggregated, anonymized statistics about how the Service is used (for example, "the median site has N pages") to improve it. This never includes your URLs, your metrics, or anything identifying you or your Sites.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service provides an opinion about which pages may need attention. It is a diagnostic aid, not professional advice, and its verdicts can be wrong. Classification thresholds are calibrated over time and may misjudge a page.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of: the total amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or fifty euros (EUR 50).
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time. Your data is removed from the live database on deletion, and ages out of backups within 7 days.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service, we will give at least 30 days' notice and provide a way to export your stored snapshots.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to account holders at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
